When he was a young man, he never thought he'd see...

Hey all,

Batman Confidential #27, featuring the second chapter of our King Tut-Riddler tale, is on sale today.

The legendary Jose Luis Garcia Lopez and Kevin Nowlan really hit this one out of the park on the art, and we're pretty happy with how our script came out.

Check it out if you get a chance.

Hopefully, this will open some doors at DC (or open the ones that were barely opened a wee bit wider).

Even if it doesn't, we got a chance to introduce King Tut, write the Riddler, write Batman, and (for me this is key) have our words brought to life by Jose, a true legend in the comics world.

Anyway, if you do check it out, we hope you like it.

It looks good, I promise you that!

Comments:
I've been very glad to see you getting this arc, and I'm very much enjoying it. I hope that it leads to more work!

I was actually talking to my sister yesterday, when I mentioned husband-and-wife teams in comics. The conversation got around to wondering if a husband-and-wife team had ever had a chance to really write husband-and-wife characters, and then the conversation came to Green Arrow/Black Canary, who currently share a title...

Anyway, yes. I, too, hope that it opens more doors for you at DC!

Thanks.

Writing with my wife is one of the best things about the life I lead. We are true partners, and I love that.

And, yeah... we'd love a crack and Dinah and Ollie. But they have a writer right now, and it's in poor form to lobby for someone else's job. Maybe one day, when he leaves the book (hopefully of his own accord and only after he's told the tales he wants to tell with them) we can have a shot at those characters.

Batman is one of those characters whom I've never found to be quite as interesting as his rogues' gallery or the people he surrounds himself with, so while I've enjoyed books like Birds of Prey, Robin, Arkam Asylum, etc., I don't usually pick up books where Bats is the central character. He's practically a force of nature in his corner of the DCU, and I'm usually more entertained by how others react to him than by how he reacts.

With all that in said, picking up this book was a double treat. I adore the way you guys are handling The Riddler (page six of #27 by itself was worth the cover price) but I'm enjoying your take on Batman just as much. The note that you hit in his interactions with the Riddler -- not overly-stoic, and frustrated in that it's-just-out-of-reach way without being overwhelmed -- is human enough that I really got caught up in the banter and the mystery.

So yeah, liking this lots, recommending it as I can, and looking forward to the conclusion.

Hi Ninzio,

I have a question for you that I'd like to send to you personally (about the UCLA class), but I can't seem to find your email posted anywhere. Can you post it on your blog?

This arc has been fantastic and is some of the most fun I've had with a Batman comic in sometime.

You guys would be perfect for Green Arrow/Black Canary.

Just wanted to say that I am absolutely loving Batman Confidential. Issue 28 comes out today and I can't wait. I'm way more into it than any other Bat title at the moment.

I have enjoyed this arc immensely and I hope to see more from you both. Preferably on a Bat title.
